About

Biography

Tom van der Meer is a french photographer and visual artist based in the south of France.

Raised between Dutch and French culture, he quickly developed a deep passion for visual-related disciplines. Architecture, design, fashion, editing, theatre, cinema, and photography are at the core of his interests and will shape his vision of the world.

During his architecture studies in Montpellier, Tom’s photography focussed on life scenes and abstract compositions. He developed a strong graphic approach, aiming to capture the ordinary through a timeless or even surreal aesthetic.

Today, his professional work primarily focusses on event photography, capturing the essence of moments in a natural yet striking street style. His personal artistic work, on the other hand, explores the visual contrast of black-and-white scenes, using video and photo overlays to work with both stillness and motion.
